Get Ready to Say "Konnichiwa" to Japan!

Japan is fully reopening its doors to tourist starting in October, so what do you need to know if you're ready to start planning that trip? After over two years of tight travel restrictions, one of the last countries is finally fully reopening its boarders. Caleb and I have talked a lot in the last couple of months about going to Japan, so here are some of the important details we've found.

Starting October 11th, tourist will be able to visit Japan visa free if you are from one of these 68 countries. Japan has also strictly limited the number of visitors allowed into the country, but that daily maximum will be no more. Previously, you also had to be with a tour group to go to Japan, but that will soon no longer be the case.

A big change also coming is the country's entry quarantine protocol. If you enter the country on or after October 11th, you will not be required to quarantine upon entry unless you are showing symptoms. On top of this, you will not have to take a PCR test if you are fully-vaccinated. As of writing this, that includes at least one booster shot. If you are not fully vaccinated, you must take and submit a negative PCR test result no more than 72 hours before your trip.

You can find the latest entry guidelines for Japan on their Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
